Running Out of October

Our local fall colors seemed to last
quite a long time this year.

Fall activities "getting ready for winter"
and "more" which lasted all of October.

The rock garden (almost all of it) was
given a refresh... in the spring some
weed control will be done.

We got a "new to us" griddle to try
and see if we like it.    The first owners
only used it a couple of times.

Our grass was mowed 2-3 times this fall and
it is still nice and green.

Miss Kitty keeps a good eye on the yard.

Fall, one of my favorite times of the year!

Blogging

The local cemetery earlier this month
full of color.

A doe when I was out on a drive.

~~~
I am looking forward to cooler
weather (a change in pace from working
on things outdoors to moving indoors).
One thing that gets way behind is my
journaling and blogging.
I struggled this week to get back into
blogging ~ getting some warning
"unsecure" pop ups.
That is all taken care of ~ looks like it
wasn't an issue but I sure hope others
aren't getting that pop up when visiting
my blog page.
Smoky Hills State Forest
The fall colors called me for a drive
through the State Forest.
October 6, 2026
It was a little bit cloudy but the colors
and the smell in the woods made
up for it.   We have had some
beautiful fall weather.
My sidekick rode along with
me ~ we saw a couple of deer
running through the woods, a
squirrel and two raccoons
waddle across the road.
Fall in Itasca State Park
We made it up to the park in October.
This was October 4th.
The colors were still vibrant.  We made it
through the park and then had a late lunch
at Lobo's (a restaurant/bar up north).
   Lobo's was busy with people coming
in on motorcycles, their summer cruisin' cars
and some ATV's.
Road Trip ~ Grand Teton National Park
 We were on the road early (in the
dark) keeping an eye out for wildlife on
the road.  We made it through Togwotee Pass
and to Grand Teton National Park.
It was very handy to have our traveling
host "Jeeb" with the GuideAlong app.
(highly recommend this app for parks and
check it out for other travels).   It was like
having our own tour guide and learning
things as we traveled.
(no his name isn't really Jeeb, hubby
named him).  :)
We found our way to Jenny Lake Overlook.
So peaceful and beautiful!
After the sunrise, we headed back to the
Jenny Lake area with the large parking
lot, small visitor's center and a bathroom.
It was quite busy with people getting ready
to hike and others catching the boat, to the other
side of the lake, for more hiking.
They rent bear spray at a vending machine.
With very detailed instructions that
made us laugh.
It was surprisingly very busy with people.
That is Enough Time Away
 In August, we planned and took a
road trip vacation which started out being
planned for our 40th Wedding Anniversary.
The only thing we knew months ago was that
we were heading west...
Now that I have had plenty of downtime
(which I lost track of) my blog is
waiting on me.
I look forward to going back through
the pictures of our travels (such a
beautiful area).
Stay tuned...
August Birthday ~ Grand #1
Birthday celebration for
Grand #1, he turned 11 years
old.   We celebrated with him
early.
Gifts..
he enjoys reading...
and anything hockey or The Wild.
We spent the day mini golfing,
a DQ treat and
a cruise.
We were away on our road trip
on his actual birthday and party
day.
Happy Birthday, have the best
year ever!   We love you!
Road Trip ~ Day 3 Wyoming
We headed towards and arrived in
Wyoming.
We admired the hay fields, the hay
is very thick and so very green!
These fields have water irrigation, we
did some searching and learned about
water rights.
The areas that don't have the benefits
of water rights are dry and almost
desert like.
We arrived to Dubois, Wyoming where
we stayed for three nights.  A little
resort with rooms, cabins and camping
on the Wind River.
The little ranch resort was a good fit
for us.
Wind River
We took a drive and found ourselves
wandering on a forest service road.
What a beautiful area!
SD ~ WY
It was an early night in after a big
travel day plus we are getting up
very early to head to the Grand
Teton National Park.
